![]() Just some of the feline faces you can meet. Six times a year we are allowing a limited number of members of the public to view our collection of rare cats, here at the Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre. The Amur Leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis) has been classified as critically endangered with a population of approximately only 35 left in the wild. They are sparsely distributed across Russia, China and possibly, Korea and their population is still in decline threatened by increasing damage to their habitat by deforestation and excessive tree-logging. We have four Amur leopards at the centre which have been rehomed from various locations around the United Kingdom. It is our aim to raise funds for the plight of the wild Amur leopard through holding these open days. Ticket holders will be guided around the enclosures and can find out more about these majestic creatures. BOOK A PLACE TODAY AND SUPPORT THESE WONDERFUL BEASTS
ADOPT YOUR VERY OWN BIG CAT TODAY Your help is vital towards securing the future of these rare cats. By adopting one, not only are you helping to give these individual cats a long happy existence but by looking after the cats here at the centre we are able to educate and highlight the problems that these leopards are facing in the wild on a daily basis. This really is a species whose existence hangs in the balance - come and witness them first hand at one of our six open days in 2011. Bookings will be available for the Big Cat experience. A £15 ticket will entitle you to a guided Tour and Talk of the cats, PLUS entry into Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre, where you will see a large collection of Birds of Prey, all set in 42 acres of natural woodland. Please contact us on 07778152814 or 07702211528 to book this rare opportunity to see the 'Rutland Cats'. Light refreshments available and a collection of Photographs will be on sale. The centre will be open as normal. We regret that no photography is allowed in the Cats area. |
